The idea comes from years of seeing how gardening changes daily life. My mother has always been deeply into gardening, and I learned early that growing food does more than fill a basket. It pulls people outside, slows them down, connects them to the season, and makes dinner feel earned.

Fresh produce prices keep climbing, and too much of what reaches the store has traveled hundreds or even thousands of miles. A few coordinated yards cannot replace the food system, but they can give neighbors better food, useful savings, and a local backup for everyday staples.
